Issued: November 30 2018

Sarah (Xiaohua) Zhao has joined Baker Hostetler as a privacy and data protection partner in its Washington office. The team has added nearly 20 lawyers in the past year to meet evolving client demands. Zhao’s practice focuses on cross-border data transfer issues, privacy and cybersecurity. She joins Baker Hostetler from Faegre Baker Daniels. “China is an important market for many of our clients,” said Ted Kobus, leader of the firm’s privacy and data protection team. “The addition of Sarah to our team provides us with an opportunity to seamlessly assist our clients doing business in China with insights, experience, and local contacts of a former staff member of the current Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China.” Zhao’s work over the course of her career has resulted in the amendment or abolishment of several Chinese internet and wireless rules.
