Issued: August 01 2012Media reports from New Delhi say that India’s Intellectual Property Appellate Board (IPAB) has postponed Bayer’s appeal against the grant of a compulsory license of its patented drug Nexavar to Natco Pharma to September 3, 2012.
India issued its first-ever compulsory licence in March, which will allow Natco to legally make and sell a generic version of the drug on the grounds that most Indians cannot afford the medicine. Natco has been selling the drug at Rs8,800 (US$159) per month.

European law firm Field Fisher Waterhouse has advised Ping Pong East, the franchising arm of the casual dining dim sum concept, in relation to the grant of franchise rights for the Indian states of Goa and Maharashtra, the firm said in a statement.
Field Fisher Waterhouse IP associate Gordon Drakes, assisted by Indianqualified solicitor Lisa Sen, advised Ping Pong on its negotiations with the Mirah Group, an experienced operator in the Indian hospitality sector. The parties signed a franchise agreement which will see the roll out of up to eight Ping Pong restaurants over the next five years.
“We are delighted to have had the opportunity to advise Ping Pong on this deal and help them gain a foothold in this important emerging market,” said Drakes.
