Ya-Chiao Chang Has Joined The Shanghai Office Of Kirkland & Ellis

Intellectual property litigator Ya-Chiao Chang has joined the Shanghai office of Kirkland & Ellis as a partner. Chang joins the firm from Jones Day’s Beijing and Taipei offices. His practice is focused on representing global corporations based in Asia in complex US patent litigation matters, primarily related to electronics, wireless communications and semiconductors. He also counsels clients in the resolution of patent disputes between companies in Asia, Europe and the United States, as well as IP-related antitrust and competition issues.


Horace Lam has joined the intellectual property practice at Jones Day as a partner in its Beijing office. Lam joined the firm from Hogan Lovells, where he was the local managing partner and head of the firm’s China IP practice. Lam is noted for both contentious and non-contentious patent, trademark, and copyright work. He represents multinational companies in enforcing their intellectual property rights in Asia and has handled numerous IP disputes in China and Hong Kong. He has worked with companies in the consumer products, luxury goods, automobiles, software, and telecommunications industries.

Jiang Zhipei has joined the Beijing office of King & Wood as a senior consultant in the intellectual property litigation group.

Jiang participated in the drafting and amendment of Chinese civil law, intellectual property law, and civil procedure law. He has also edited and drafted many publications including Intellectual Property Litigation, Internet and E-commerce Law and Post WTO Accession Intellectual Property Protection Research in China. Jiang is a former member of the Judicial Committee of the Supreme People’s Court, former Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court Intellectual Property Rights Tribunal, and founder of Chinaiprlaw website.
