Singh & Singh Lall & Sethi Demerge
Issued: April 18 2017Singh & Singh Lall & Sethi have demerged slightly less than two years after the two firms merged to form an intellectual property powerhouse in India.
At the root of the demerger is the expected elevation of SS&LS managing partner Chander Lall, pictured, to senior advocate by the Delhi High Court. India’s Advocates Act 1961 forbids senior advocates from being part of law firms.
Lall founded Lall & Sethi with Sandeep Sethi, who is now a senior advocate, in 1994; Singh & Singh was founded by Maninder Singh and Pratibha Singh in 1999. Pratibha Singh resigned in 2013 when she became a senior advocate.
