LexOrbis hosted the first-ever India chapter meeting of the American Intellectual Property Law Association’s Women in IP international networking event on June 10. The event is a simultaneous meeting of women who practice IP law and/or are regularly faced with IP issues in the course of ordinary business, concurrently held in various geographic locations by law firms and/or corporations.

“The meeting was aimed to provide networking opportunities to women practicing intellectual property laws whether in-house or otherwise,” says Manisha Singh Nair, partner in charge at LexOrbis in New Delhi, and a member of AIPLA. “This AIPLA event was held across the world in 23 countries, and is the 8th annual event, but the first in India.”

Nair, who took the initiative to bring the chapter to India, welcomed more than 50 women IP professionals to the India Habitat Centre, including senior panellists Prem Lata, assistant registrar of trademarks, New Delhi; Usha Rao, Assistant Controller of Patents at the Patent Office, New Delhi; and Prathiba Singh, senior advocate.
