Michelle Chan has joined Bird & Bird in Hong Kong as a partner. Chan joins from Herbert Smith Freehills, where she headed up their Asia TMT team. She has practiced in Hong Kong since 1997, focussing on technology, media and telecoms work since 1999. Her clients include regional and international operators and multinational clients.

Chan has extensive experience in regional TMT issues, and has considerable experience in advising clients on data protection issues and non-contentious IP projects. She also worked as in-house legal counsel while on secondment to Alcatel-Lucent in Shanghai from 2003 to 2004.
