IPOS Names Tay Kewei, Dick Lee IP Ambassaors

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has named local performers Tay Kewei, a promising singer/song-writer, and accomplished singer, composer and playwright Dick Lee IP Ambassadors for Singapore. As part of IPOS’ 10th anniversary event, the pair performed a few pieces of their original music and shared their personal experiences about the importance of IP.


According to an IPOS statement, Lee was chosen as IP Ambassador for his invaluable contribution to the local and regional music industry and strong support for original works throughout his 40 years career. Lee has not written numerous hits for some of Asia's best voices including Jackie Cheung, Leslie Cheung, Stephanie Sun and Kit Chan, and has produced iconic original theatre productions such as Forbidden City and Beauty World.

Kewei is a singer, song-writer and a player of the erhu, a musical instrument sometimes known as a Chinese violin or a Chinese two-stringed fiddle. She has performed on concert tours for wellknown artists such as David Tao, Wang Leehom and JJ Lin, and was the winner of the Media’s Choice for Local New Artiste at the Singapore Hits Awards 2010. She recently launched her debut album “Come Closer” with original compositions of her own. IPOS hopes that her passion for original music will encourage young Singaporeans to have a higher level of appreciation, support and respect for IP, the statement said.
