China's yearly patent application reached more than 1 million

China's State Intellectual Property Office (SIPO) said in an announcement that it received a record 1.1 million applications for intellectual property registrations last year, up 18.7% year-on-year.


Around 359,000 intellectual property registrations are new inventions, of which 263,000 are from domestic individuals and companies, up 62% from a year ago.

As of the end of 2015, there are an aggregate 872,000 valid new invention intellectual properties in China. There are 6.3 intellectual property registrations for every 10,000 people in China, said the announcement.
