A group of Kuala Lumpur-based lawyers have joined together to form Koh Dipendra Jeremiah Law (KDJLaw). The new firm is the Eversheds Harry Elias’ relationship firm in Malaysia.

KDJLaw is a three-way merger between the combined expertise of Arianti Dipendra Jeremiah, a strong intellectual property and technology practice led by Suaran Singh Sidhu and Brian Law, and an experienced corporate team of Rodney Koh and Tay Kian Har.

The firm consists of an IP and technology practice group, a dispute resolution and arbitration practice group and a corporate and commercial group.

Sidhu has extensive experience in all aspects of IP matters, information technology law, commercial law and personal data protection law. In addition, he regularly advices on legal matters in the fields of entertainment, media and communications. He has acted in several landmark cases on IP laws in Malaysia. He handles all aspects of IP disputes, including copyright, trademark and patent disputes and is also experienced in obtaining ex-parte injunctions such as Anton Piller Orders, injunctions and search orders.

Law, who is also regional head of IP for Eversheds Harry Elias in Singapore and legal advisor for Eversheds HEP in Brunei, is experienced in advising on all aspects of IP matters across Southeast Asia from commercial advisory and prosecution of trademarks, patents and designs, to complex IP litigation and enforcement matters. He has secured several landmark decisions involving IP dispute cases in Malaysia and has represented clients in highly contentious trademark, patent and copyright infringement suits. He is also responsible for the success of several high-profile and complex IP enforcement raids in Malaysia and across the region, in particular, China and Indonesia.

Guna Selan Marian has also joined the firm as an enforcement consultant. He is a well-recognized figure in the field of enforcement in Malaysia with vast experience in enforcement involving intellectual property rights, antiprofiteering, price control, investigation and prosecution of IP offences. He first joined the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) as an assistant enforcement officer and throughout the last 30 years of his career, he climbed the ranks in the ministry, which is now known as Ministry of Domestic Trade Co-Operatives and Consumerism (MDTCC). At MDTCC, he held several key positions at state and federal levels and retired as Senior Principle Assistant Director of Enforcement Division in Putrajaya. The last position held by Guna before he left the government sector was the Head of Supplies, Price Control and Anti – Profiteering, Enforcement Division of MDTCC.
