The Australian Patent Office has unilaterally implemented a series of new tests for assessing whether or not claimed subject matter is patent-eligible. Where the general field of invention is deemed not to relate to the application of “science” or “technology,” objections are being raised on the basis that the subject matter is inherently unpatentable.
