Issued: August 27 2019Chan Chun Sing delivering the opening address at IP Week @ SG 2019
Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Chan Chun Sing, has announced the launch of IPOS International, a new subsidiary of the Intellectual Property office of Singapore (IPOS). IPOS International merges the services of previous subsidiaries the IP Academy, IP Value Lab and the Patent Examination Unit, and will be able to offer services global companies, as well as those based in Singapore.
IPOS International will bring together experts with strengths in IP strategy and management, patent search and analysis, and IP education and training, to help enterprises commercialise their IP and intellectual assets, Chan explained.
Commenting later, Mr Daren Tang, chief executive of IPOS and chairman of IPOS International, said “As Singapore’s economy transforms, enterprises will increasingly turn to innovation to drive business growth. To support them on this challenging journey, we have decided to bring together over 100 of our IP experts under one roof to provide new solutions and tools for these enterprises. We will also work closely with partners in government and the private sector, in Singapore and overseas, to offer holistic solutions to innovative enterprises as they scale up into the region and beyond”
Chan and Tang were speaking during the opening session of IP Week@SG, an annual forum for IP owners, business leaders and policy makers held in Singapore.
