Baker & McKenzie was the big winner at the 2015 Asia IP Awards November 13 in Okinawa, Japan, taking home six separate awards including the trademark award for international practices. 

Also winning multiple awards at the Hilton Okinawa Chatan Resort were Hogan Lovells for international copyright, China copyright and Vietnam copyright; Davies Collison Cave for Australia patents and trademarks; Anand and Anand for India trademarks and copyright; Nakamura & Partners for Japan patents and trademarks; Baldwins for New Zealand trademarks and copyright; and Julius & Creasy for Sri Lanka trademarks and copyright.

Bird & Bird won the international patents award.

As part of its six awards, Baker & McKenzie also won the China copyright, Hong Kong copyright, Thailand copyright and Vietnam trademarks awards. Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners, Baker & McKenzie’s member firm in Jakarta, won the Indonesia patents and trademarks awards.

Award winners were determined by Asia IP’s extensive polling of in-house counsel in Asia and the Pacific, Europe and the Americas. Thirty-eight firms took home a trophies in 16 jurisdictions and the international category.

“There is an impressive amount of top-level intellectual property work being done in Asia,” said Asia IP publisher Darren Barton. “The competition this year is perhaps the best we’ve seen in the history of the awards.”
