Baker & McKenzie was the big winner at the 2014 Asia IP Awards November 7 in Penang, Malaysia, taking home five separate awards including the trademark award for international practices.
Also winning multiple awards at the Parkroyal Hotel were Hogan Lovells for international copyright, China copyright and Vietnam copyright; Tilleke & Gibbins for Thailand trademarks and patents; Baldwins for New Zealand trademarks and copyright; Deacons for Hong Kong copyrights and patents; and TMI Associates for Japan trademarks and copyrights.

As part of its five awards, Baker & McKenzie also won the China trademark, Hong Kong trademark and Vietnam trademark awards. Hadiputranto, Hadinoto & Partners, Baker & McKenzie’s member firm in Jakarta, won the Indonesia trademark award.
Award winners were determined by Asia IP’s extensive polling of in-house counsel in Asia and the Pacific, Europe and the Americas. Forty firms took home a trophies in 16 jurisdictions and the international category.
“The competition among top intellectual property practices in Asia is fierce,” said Asia IP publisher Darren Barton. “That we are able to recognize so many different practices is a tribute to the breadth and depth of the IP practices in the region.”
A complete list of winners is available here, and photos from the event will be published in print and online in the November issue of Asia IP.
